At Taylor Street Dental of Springfield, MA, patients in and around the area can obtain restorative solutions in a single appointment. This is all thanks to the CEREC technology used in our practice to help you receive same-day repairs to the smile!
How CEREC is used in dental practices
CEREC is a popular technology used by advanced dental practices such as Taylor Street Dental to create high-quality, custom dental crowns and other restoration products. The acronym CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics, and it is indeed a very efficient way to produce these restorations in-office without the need to send them out to a lab.
What is the process of obtaining restorations using the CEREC system?
The process begins with our dentist taking an oral impression of the patient’s teeth. This impression is used to create a digital 3D model of the mouth. From this model, the restoration can be designed on a computer using CAD/CAM software. Once the design is approved by the dentist, it is sent to a milling machine right in the office, which rapidly carves the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material.
The final step is to place the restoration in your mouth and check for fit. If all looks good, the CEREC crown is then bonded in place using dental cement. The entire process is completed in just one visit to Taylor Street Dental, which is exceptionally convenient for all our patients!
Why might I choose CEREC restorations for my smile?
CEREC restorations are solid and durable, and they can usually last for many years with appropriate care. They are also highly aesthetic since they are made from natural-looking ceramic materials. For these reasons, CEREC is an excellent choice for Springfield, MA, area patients who need a high-quality restoration but don’t want to wait for weeks or even months to receive it.
