Why Older Adults are Interested in Cosmetic Dentistry
Created on November 30, 2017
Cosmetic dentistry, like BOTOX and other treatments aimed at facial rejuvenation, can be an excellent service for adults of all ages. In recent years, we have seen an increase in interest in all types of cosmetic services for Gen X’ers and even Millennials. These younger generations span from their twenties to the mid-life years. Many of these individuals are building careers, meeting their mates, and starting families. They are developing businesses and networking far more than previous generations.
This is all very nice. However, we do not want to forget the Baby Boomers. This older generation of folks has plenty of reason to continue attending to their appearance, especially their smile. We are more than happy to help them. The personal care that we provide to patients of our Springfield spans preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry to fully support beautiful, healthy smiles.
How Aging Has Changed
As times have changed, so has the way we live. Baby Boomers are a prime example of a new way of living. Unlike their parents, there is a large portion of the Baby Boomer population who have sloughed off the traditional idea of retirement. At the “ripe old age” of 65, many in this generation are just getting revved up; they continue thriving in their careers, or start new ones! They are running businesses, charities, or performing satisfying volunteer work. And the professional realm isn’t the only area in which older adults are staying active.
Statistics indicate that life expectancy has increased over the past few decades. This may be one of the reasons why Baby Boomers are working longer, rather than settling into retirement when they may have expected they would. In addition to staying active in the workplace, we also see that older adults are still dating, still maintaining rich social lives.
How the Smile Affects All This
The various aspects of adult life are intrinsically tied to appearance. That is just a matter of fact. So, regardless of age, an adult deserves to feel good about his or her smile. The appearance of our teeth does more than making us feel good; it is also what sends out our first impression; a sort of ambassador of Self.
