Root Canal in Springfield & Longmeadow, MA
There are many things in life to stress about, but getting a root canal done doesn’t need to be one of them.
As one of the most common oral procedures out there, Taylor Street Dental in Springfield, MA, will ensure that you feel comfortable from start to finish during your root canal procedure so it goes as smoothly as possible.
What Is a Root Canal?
When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter into it. If left untreated, an abscess can form which can result in the pulp underneath the tooth becoming infected. When this happens, Taylor Street Dental may recommend that you get a root canal to correct the issue to prevent further decay.
How we perform the Root Canal Procedure
Dr. David Peck can usually complete your root canal and CEREC restoration in one visit.
- We will remove the diseased pulp; then the pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are cleaned and sealed.
- After the tooth has been sealed, we will then place a crown on the tooth to strengthen the remaining structure.
- Then, as long as you continue to care for your teeth and gums with regular brushing, flossing, and checkups, your restored tooth can last a lifetime.
What are the benefits of Root Canal Therapy versus Tooth Extraction?
Although tooth extractions are necessary for some instances, it’s not the first option we recommend. Tooth extractions will require additional treatments to restore your tooth such as a dental implant. The whole goal of a root canal is to save your existing tooth rather than extracting it–which leaves you with a healthy mouth and an easier outcome.
