Our staff of professionals, including Drs. David Peck, Stefan Filip, and Pablo Valestegui, are committed to helping others achieve the smile of their dreams. When cavities form, many of our patients will find that composite resin fillings are the most affordable and aesthetic option of them all.
How composite resin fillings work
Composite resin is a special material that can be easily molded into small spaces while still appearing as natural tooth enamel. This is what makes it the best material for dental fillings. When areas of decay have been spotted by our dentists, fillings are the best way to keep the area sealed off and stop the decay from progressing further. While many dentists use silver amalgam fillings, we avoid them. Silver amalgam filling is comprised of unhealthy components that are not biocompatible with the human body. It also expands and contracts with temperature changes, making it a poor seal for a tooth as it can contribute to bacteria entering into the canals to create further problems. Additionally, it is not aesthetic and stands out as a dental restoration. Instead, our team uses composite resin fillings which are much safer, a tighter seal, and a more attractive approach. Patients who have areas of decay will have these areas treated before composite resin bonding is applied into the area to seal it off. Composite resin bonding is hardened with a curing light, filed down, and polishes to complete the process and ensure discreet treatment.
